The International Women’s Day according to the UN, it is “a day when women are recognised for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political. It is an occasion for looking back on past struggles and accomplishments, and more importantly, for looking ahead to the untapped potential and opportunities that await future generations of women.”
Her Excellency, Mrs. Betty Anyanwu- Akeredolu celebrated with women across the 3 senatorial districts of the state at Democracy park in Akure. She reiterated the theme for this year’s celebration as “women in the changing world of work: Planet 50-50 by 2030; Ondo State Theme – Women be bold: Change the world of workplace”. According to her, the day is designed to “reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of the state.
Ondo State Agency for the Control of AIDS was in attendance to screen women across the 18 LGAs in the state , a total of 106 clients were screened , 2 females were reactive falling to the age group (14-59yrs) and effective referral was made to the nearest health facility to access treatment.
